I wouldn’t say Amazon is evil. I’d say they are more arrogant than anything else. You’re right they have done a lot of good, but they’ve also been able muscle out competition, command the attention of cities and governments, and basically exert its size and power in questionable ways with little to no oversight.

I agree that a lot of that blame falls at the feet of politicians and government. Taking money out of politics would go a long way, but I also reject this “Corporations will be corporations” mentality of excusing corporate greed at the expense of everything else. The “what’d you expect” line of thinking doesn’t work for me.

The corporations deserve blame. These business are still ran by people, who should still be required to account for their actions beyond just doing what’s profitable at all costs. The old adage, “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”, still rings true in my opinion.
